There are literally millions of companies and organizations working to improve the quality of life on Earth right now. I first felt the inspiration of knowing this during a Paul Hawken presentation. He has a scrolling list of such organizations he puts on the screen and talks about how many weeks you’d have to sit there to see them all roll by.

We give you that inspiration but in a focused form. I’ve been working in or watching every industry in these categories for my entire entrepreneurial career. Our editors take the time to review every listing here. Some of the things we look for are longevity, scale and impact, innovation, or timeliness for today’s issues, and always positive and inspirational.
